Modern Apprenticeships

Look what's coming next

Developing the young workforce by improving the offering of apprenticeships and training within Moray is high on our agenda for the coming year.

Ongoing work is underway in the establishment of a council wide programme to support the employment of young people through apprenticeships. With over 80 Modern Apprenticeship frameworks available, we are currently identifying which frameworks we can offer within the Council. Additionally we are also looking at the newly introduced frameworks for graduate level training which are presently available in IT and Engineering subjects.  Apprenticeships are available to employees of any age and funding is available for training both new and existing staff – more information on this will be provided in due course.

Skills Development Scotland (SDS) is the national skills body supporting the people and businesses of Scotland to develop and apply their skills; further information on what they do can be found at www.skillsdevelopmentscotland.co.uk

SDS’s target for 2017 is to achieve 26,000 young people working towards a Modern Apprenticeship which moves towards the Scottish Government’s commitment to 30,000 Modern Apprenticeship starts by 2020. We will be working in partnership with SDS as we develop and implement our programme of work and look forward to sharing more news on this soon.
