Switch off Fortnight
Start Date: 20/11/2017
End Date: 03/12/2017
Stop wasting energy
We’re taking part in Switch off Fortnight between Monday 20 November and Sunday 3 December.
This is the ninth year that we have partnered with our electricity provider EDF Energy to encourage schools to use energy smarter.
So what can we do in our non-educational buildings to stop wasting energy?
There are many actions we can all do to save energy. One of the simplest is to switch off your electrical appliances when you away from your desk at a meeting, break or lunch.
Our electricity bill for 2016-2017 was £1,600,000. Schools are our biggest users and account for 60% of our total costs. And on their own, the Council headquarters and the Annexe buildings use 8%. We’re asking for all staff to make an extra effort over the Switch Off fortnight to support the campaign being run in our schools.
