Staff Flu Vacinations

ALL NHS Grampian staff and social care and voluntary sector personnel employed to provide personal care to children and adults (in care settings and the community) are eligible for FREE seasonal flu vaccination from 1st October from OHS or from almost 70 participating community pharmacies across Grampian.

Seasonal influenza is an acute, viral illness easily spread from person to person. Symptoms include fever, cough, headache, sore throat, muscle/joint pains. Affected individuals and those incubating the infection with no symptoms can pass influenza on to their families, patients, friends and colleagues.

Influenza is a severe threat to the public, affecting people of any age. Those in the higher risk groups are more likely to experience severe illness, complications and even death.

Last season, influenza was widespread in the community and it is well recognised that health and social care staff are significantly more likely to be exposed at work. Every year several outbreaks of influenza occur in hospitals and care homes across Grampian. Outbreaks result in serious illness among patients/residents and placed a significant burden on staff through illness.

Get vaccinated! Reduce the risk of catching flu then taking it home to your family and friends.
