Who cares? Lots of you!
Being a carer for a family member can happen unexpectedly, and to any of us. At last month's events in HQ and Annexe, dozens of you came along to find out what support is available for if you care for someone. We've also sent out a Carer Positive online survey which has hundreds of returns.
With such a demand for information about this subject, we've pulled together some details about carer support in Moray.
Quarriers
Quarriers Carer Support Service (Moray) provides advice, information and support for unpaid carers of all ages across Moray. With a focus on enabling carers to achieve positive outcomes that mean they can balance their caring role with a life of their own, feel confident about their caring responsibilities and ensure the person they care for has appropriate and effective support themselves, they work with carers to identify the areas of their lives where they would benefit from additional support and ensure they make the connections required to access it.
All carers completing a carers assessment have a personal support plan, and an agreed programme of support and contact where required. This can include learning and skills opportunities, peer support activity, signposting and referral to specialist agencies, engagement with community organisations and services and access to short breaks and respite.
If you, or someone you know, are caring for a family member or friend because of illness, frailty, disability or substance use, ring 01343 556031, email carersmoray@quarriers.org.uk, or drop into their office at 44 High Street, Elgin and find out more about how they can help.
