Mocktails
Completed Sober October? Feeling like you want to keep up the alcohol-free lifestyle, or at least reduce your alcohol intake?
You won’t feel like you’re missing out by indulging in these delicious mocktails, as featured in October’s edition of Connect. Recipes are from BBC’s Good Food website. Cheers!
Mojito mocktail
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp sugar
- small bunch mint
- 3 limes juiced
- soda water
Method
Muddle the sugar with leaves from the mint using a pestle and mortar (or use a small bowl and the end of a rolling pin). Put a handful of crushed ice into two glasses. Divide the lime juice between the glasses with the mint mix. Add a straw and top up with soda water.
Non-alcoholic tropical fizz
Ingredients
- Handful of strawberries, hulled and halved
- 1 kiwi fruit, peeled and chopped
- 2 pineapple rings, chopped
- Sparkling apple juice
- Tropical fruit juice
- Soda water
Method
Fill eight glasses with a mixture of made up of strawberries, kiwi fruit and pineapple rings. Fill the glasses with equal amounts of chilled sparking apple juice, chilled tropical fruit juice and chilled soda water. Serve immediately.
Drivers’ punch
Ingredients
- 100g cranberry
- 100ml cranberry juice
- juice of 1 lime
- thin wedges of lime
- thin wedges of orange
- mint sprigs
- 600ml sparking apple juice
Method
Put the cranberries into a medium size, rigid freezer container, cover with water (by about 2.5cm) and freeze until solid. Mix the cranberry juice in a large (1.5litre) jug with the orange and lime juices.
To service, smash the sheet of frozen cranberries into shards and put in the bottom of eight highball glasses. Put a wedge of lime and orange, and a mint spring, in each glass, then pour in the mixed fruit juices and to up with sparking apple juice.
