Assertiveness

This half day workshop will give you the necessary skills to improve your confidence and enable you to communicate effectively and assertively. It will cover tips and techniques on assertiveness and provide you with a toolkit for the future.

Who should attend?

Particularly relevant to all staff that deal directly with customers and any staff that recognise they could improve their confidence by learning these skills.

What will it cover?

On completion of the session the participant will be able to:

  • Describe the benefits of assertive communication for the individual, colleagues and the organisation
  • Distinguish between aggression, passivity and assertion, in terms of:
    • underlying attitudes
    • verbal communication
    • non-verbal communication (body language)
  • Offer opinions, make and decline requests, offer and accept 'criticism', negotiate agreement and maintain self-esteem assertively
