25th October 2023 - Moray Council to fund further Cloddach Bridge studies

Following a pre-feasibility study into the viability, Moray Council has decided to fund the full business case required to further work to repair the Cloddach Bridge, near Birnie.

This overturns a decision made by the Economic Development and Infrastructure Services Committee on 7 February 2023 not to progress the project further. See full article here.

25th October 2023 - Moray Council encourages hospitality businesses to set-up outside safely

Moray Council has approved a permit application process, charges and guidance for the placement of furniture and non-furniture items on the public footways for outside dining at restaurants, cafes and pubs.

24th October 2023 - Have your say on Moray’s conservation area updates

Moray Council is inviting residents to give their feedback on proposed changes to four local conservation areas.

The local authority commissioned LDN Architects to carry out conservation area assessments in Cullen, Archiestown, Portknockie, and Findochty. See full article here.

24th October 2023 - Views sought on new cemetery for Elgin

A site has been identified for a new cemetery in Elgin and Moray Council is inviting residents to give feedback on the plan.

The local authority submitted a proposal of application notice (PAN) to build the cemetery on a 6.6 hectare area of land to the east of Linkwood Farm, Barmuckity. See full article here.

24th October 2023 - Speyside Challenge winners announced

Winners of Moray Council’s September Speyside Challenge have been revealed.

The Speyside Challenge competition aimed to help lower carbon emissions in the area and highlight the great paths network in Speyside. See full article here.

13th October 2023 - Moray Council introduces electrical recycling scheme at work

Moray Council is looking ahead to Recycle Week Scotland (16-22 October) to encourage employees to bring their old and broken electrical items to work for recycling.

Staff can bring in their own electrical waste, including electric toothbrushes, hair straighteners, curlers, and toys for disposal in new e-waste recycling bins which are set down just for them. The bins are now in place at the council’s HQ and Annex buildings, and at other council staff sites upon request. See full article here.

11th October 2023 - Moray Councillor makes call for greater falls awareness

Moray Council’s Older People’s Champion is supporting a national safety campaign aiming to reduce the number of falls older people have.

Councillor Sonya Warren is encouraging residents to become ‘Fall Fighters’ in an effort to raise awareness of how falls can be prevented and help older adults live as independently as possible, without the fear of falling. See full article here.
