World Mental Health Day
World Mental Health Day is celebrated each year on 10 October. The theme for 2024, set by the World Federation of Mental Health, is ‘It is time to prioritise mental health in the workplace’.
The aim of the day is to raise awareness of mental health and drive positive change for everyone’s mental health.
It is a chance for everyone to talk about mental health, how we need to look after it, and how important it is to get help if you are struggling.
Employed adults spend more time working than any other activity during their waking hours. Work can provide at its best a livelihood and a source of purpose and enjoyment. However, at times, our mental health and wellbeing can overcome these positive feelings, and this can result in excessive distress and ill health such as anxiety and depression.
Mental Health UK are calling for everyone to take share responsibility for workplace mental health. To look out for one another, to recognise the signs of poor mental health and provide mutual support so that we can create healthier, more resilient workplaces and foster environments where everyone can flourish.
