Star Awards 2024

Thank you to everyone who nominated their staff member or team this year for a STAR award, the judging panel had a tough choice to make from an outstanding pool of nominees.

Congratulations to our deserving winners who showed great dedication and resilience in their respective roles. Each were awarded a trophy and letter of thanks from the Chief Executive and Council Leader on Wednesday 2 October.

Letters of recognition were also distributed to the other nominees to give thanks for their contributions to creating a positive workplace.

Chief Executive Award for Excellence (winner) Debra Wilson Paralegal (Litigation & Social Care) Legal Services Debra's exceptional service during a period of extreme pressure. Working beyond her remit and making a notable impact in supporting service delivery. Demonstrating excellence out with her role which has led to a saving for the council.
Chief Executive Award for Excellence (runner up) Forres Academy Catering Team Catering/Forres Academy The Catering Team’s ability and excellent response to a very challenging situation because of the RAAC impact. The Team was relocated and had to set up service including transportation of meals with only 24 hours’ notice. Demonstrating flexibility, adaptability and a commitment to their roles while working collaboratively as a team to ensure excellent service delivery with no reduction in service.
Chief Executive Special Appreciation Award Emma Harris, Principal Teacher of Modern Languages Forres Academy Emma's significant discretionary effort in delivery of the exchange programmes offering and enhancing pupils’ experiences of different cultures, which has had a positive impact on young people. Emma's increased level of extracurricular participation is recognised along with her dedication of using her own time during school holidays along with the work associated with organising the programmes is commendable. These opportunities may have not been available so frequently without Emma's commitment.

Gary achieved this during a period of pressure and competing demands securing a substantial financial benefit to improve the environment for the local communities.
Contact Centre Corporate Services Demonstrating excellence in your role and the exceptional service the contact centre team delivers.
Sheryl Hay Buckie Access Point – Children + Families Team Sheryl is an excellent role model to her team and for the additional effort she put in during the recent office move. The move was handled with great efficiency which resulted in sustained service delivery. Sheryl provides a positive influence on the team in the delivery of service.
Communities and Volunteering Team HSCM Communities and Volunteering Team This team deliver excellence in service delivery and have taken steps to drive improvements and efficiency savings.
Shirley Ramage Health and Social Care –Day Services Shirley demonstrates excellent people manager skills that support/drive both council and individual improvement. Shirley has created a positive workplace culture where colleagues are thriving. Shirley demonstrates excellence in the day job.
Imke Henderson Information Governance, GSP Imke has demonstrated significant service improvements which can be evidenced through the reports and has driven up our compliance rates to 100% which is a notable achievement. This has been achieved whilst delivering excellence in customer service.
Charlene Marshall Children, Families & Justice Social Work Charlene has demonstrated excellence in your role and driven forward improvements in processes and data gathering. This proactive approach has brought positive changes and improvements in service delivery.
Strategic Planning and Development Team Economic Growth and Development The team undertook significant community and partnership engagement to support the production of the Evidence Report and were role models for other authorities to learn from in terms of navigating the new process.
Richard Fletcher Education, Resource and Communities, Buckie Library Richard demonstrates excellence within his role and takes initiative to improve processes and contribute to team projects. Richard is a team player who looks out for the well-being of others and advocates for all colleagues.
Mosstowie School Education Mosstowie school provides a positive experience for the families using your school. All staff work effectively as a team, showing professionalism and dedication to their roles, resulting in a positive experience for the children both educationally and their mental well-being.
Facilities   Facilities ability to deliver an excellent service while maintaining a positive attitude even under pressure. The Team is always available to help, with a ‘can do’ attitude and offer solutions when challenges arise.
