Commonwealth Games 2026
On Wednesday 23 July, the opening ceremony for the 2026 Commonwealth Games will take place at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow. While we can't say too much – keep an eye out for Moray during the opening ceremony!
It comes at a particularly relevant time for Moray, as it coincides with the launch of the Active Moray strategy – a new approach to sport and physical activity with several key targets, one of which is to create opportunities for people who are living sedentary lifestyles to become more active.
Steps are already being taken at Moray Council, including the Cycle2Work scheme – which will open again in the autumn, rental bikes at Moray Council HQ and lunchtime walks.
Family activities are taking place across the region, and you’ll find information about local sports clubs and programmes here. There is also the Fit Life scheme, which is currently undergoing a review to make sure it’s fit for purpose and benefits members.
