Your Voice Matters: Help Us Build an Inclusive Moray Council

At Moray Council, we are committed to making sure every employee feels valued, respected, and supported. The only way we can measure our progress and identify where we need to improve is with your help. By sharing your equality data, you give us the insight needed to build a truly inclusive workplace for everyone.

What is Equality Data and Why Do We Need It?

Equality data refers to information about you that is protected under the Equality Act 2010—things like your ethnicity, disability status, religion, sexuality, and gender identity.

We collect this data for one simple reason: To ensure fairness.

It helps us:

  • Spot and close pay gaps: We analyse data to ensure everyone is paid fairly for the same job, regardless of gender, ethnicity, or disability.
  • Design better support systems: Your information helps us plan ahead and provide necessary reasonable adjustments so that everyone can do their best work effectively.
  • Make policies work for you: Data ensures our recruitment processes and workplace practices are fair and free from direct or indirect bias.

Confidentiality You Can Trust

We understand why you might be hesitant to share personal information. Rest assured, your data is handled with the highest standards of security and confidentiality.

  • Strict Security: Your information is handled with the highest level of confidentiality, protected by robust data security protocols and strictly governed by UK data protection laws. We are committed to ensuring your personal information is used only for its intended purpose: helping us build a fair and inclusive workplace.
  • Anonymity is Key: Only a small, trained team involved in data processing can view individual records. When we publish reports, the data is completely anonymous and grouped together to ensure no individual can ever be identified.
  • Lawful Use Only: We only collect this data for specific, lawful purposes related to equality monitoring—never for "nice-to-know" reasons.

The Challenge: We're Missing Your Insight

Many people across all local authorities understandably choose not to fill out this data. While sharing is voluntary, this creates gaps in our understanding and makes it harder to effectively tackle inequality.

By updating your details, you provide us with the accurate picture we need to make informed decisions and prove we are meeting our commitments.
