News - September 2024
Please be aware the we are still experiencing signal issues today across all areas. Please don’t book any on the day journeys
There has been an update to the process for customers reporting Grit Bin related issues online.
When customers access the Grit Bin Map on this page (or here which ICT have been asked to do) they will now be directed to an online eform instead of raising an email. This will hopefully reduce the amount of enquiries coming in that do not have enough information on them and save advisors going back and forth to fill in the gaps.
These enquiries will come in, to Customer Services via Lagan (the same way that Roads Network Fault reports do) via email, and so should be raised by Advisors trained to handle Roads requests via the normal DD script.
It’s important to note that for damaged Grit Bins/Grit Bin refills, the Bin ID must be entered onto PIP to locate the correct bin. This has been noted in the script – see here.
If there are any questions, please raise via your Senior.
Please can you advise customers we are doing our best to get to them but the Keith Bus 1 driver is running approx. 45 minutes behind now due to signal issues.
Forres Bus 1 is having tablet issues, they have been sent a list of existing bookings, please don’t accept any new bookings via phone. (Extremely busy, so unlikely to be able to schedule anyone else on any way)
Please be aware we seem to be having a lot of signal issues today which is leading to a disruption and delay in services. Forres, Elgin and Keith are all reporting problems.
Please advise of the delay if anyone calls, we are hoping to get to everyone. Customers can still place bookings via the app, but please don’t take any via the phones, to allow us to catch up.
We’re also seeing issues on the Buckie to Fochabers Rd, near Fochabers.
Please see the post at the bottom of this message which was displayed on the council’s “Moray Trading Standards” facebook page recently.
Note, I only became aware of this FB page myself 20/09/2024 at 16:00.
Feel free to follow the page, however, please be aware that under no circumstances are we expecting staff to answer questions from FB. Customers reporting SCAMS to Moray Council should be logged on Lagan using the script short-code “DD” and following the appropriate options.

Residents are being warned about a new scam text that is circulating about unpaid parking fines. The text from a random number tells you: ‘Pay a parking penalty charge notice issued by a local council" The text leads to a copycat government website where you are asked to provide personal and payment information.
The Council will never send a text message requesting payment for a parking fine. If you receive an unexpected text message, don't be tempted to click on any links or follow instructions to log into any accounts. Do not make any payment or provide your bank details. Please delete the text message.
Due to a mechanical breakdown, Waterford HWRC in Forres will be closed until further notice. We will provide an update when available.
Apologies for any inconvenience caused.
The fault is currently being repaired by Tullochs Builders and not Council workmen.
We are still struggling for drivers, Buckie bus 1 will operate as per normal tomorrow and Friday. Buckie Bus 2 will only operate in the morning, we don’t have a driver for the afternoons.
Please be advised that the above ECN can be paid at £60 up to 5pm on Friday, 20 September. I have marked the database with this info.
Due to a blocked drain, Dufftown public toilets at Albert Place car park will be closed until further notice. We will provide an update when this has been repaired.
Apologies for any inconvenience caused.
The A941 South of Rothes will be closed on Friday 13 September 2024 from 9am to 4pm for lining works.
Apologies for any inconvenience caused.
A recent review of emails sent to accessmoray@moray.gov.uk from customers looking to request replacement cards has shown that approx. 80% of customers do not provide sufficient information to allow their request to be handled at their first time of contacting. As a result, there is a high number of avoidable online/email contact for this area.
Following discussion with the team, I have created a SharePoint log asking the Support Team to raise a request to ICT for them to create a new online NEC Eform that would be available Here for customers to complete when requesting a replacement card.
Updates will be added to the DD news page as these are available.

Please be advised the seagull script has been re-evaluated and the following changes have been made.
- The script can now be found under DD > Environmental Health > Animal Services.
- Moray Council will now only attend seagull related issues that pertain to deceased birds or instances where the issue (dive bombing, feeding, aggression) is causing a threat to public health or safety.
It should be noted that in many instances seagulls will only be considered a threat where a vulnerable person or group of persons is concerned (e.g. someone who is unable to defend themselves due to working at height, or due to certain forms of disability).
Of course if there are any issues or questions please raise via your Senior.
Due to a mechanical fault we are currently unable to open Waterford Recycling Centre, Forres. As soon as the fault is rectified the site will be open.
Apologies for any inconvenience caused.
