22nd February 2024 – Script Change - Environmental Health, Community Safety - Seagull Complaints

Please be advised there has been an update published to the seagull script.

Guidance has been added to the script to advise that when a customer contacts Moray Council to request a nest removal they are to be told that we will no longer remove nests unless they are causing a hazard such as blocking a flue. Customers are to be advised that routine removal is no longer being carried out.

In addition to this, if contact is made regarding nuisance seagulls and the customer is tenanted, or the property belongs to the council these will now be passed to the DLO for handling. Nuisance cases related to non-Council properties will continue to be raised to Environmental Health - Community Safety. The script is set up to establish this and then go directly to the correct queue.

Of course if you have any queries or there are issues, please contact your Senior in the first instance.

15th February 2024 – NEC Deceased Records Status Update

Please see the following statement from the National Entitlement Card Production Office (NECPO):

We will shortly be marking a number of cardholders as Deceased on the basis of data that has been supplied by UK Public Sector Fraud Authority as part of the National Fraud Inititiative (NFI) activity.

We are confident that it is highly unlikely that you will be contacted as a result of this; however, in order that any errors or indeed potential frauds are correctly managed, we would ask that if you are contacted about a record that has been marked deceased in this way, you get in touch with NECPO for assistance.

Records updated in this way will show the "NFI Deceased Update" user in the audit trail.

The Audit History will also show a "Status changed to Applicant deceased" which will include the date of the NFI exercise and the Date of Death where it was given.

Although as mentioned by NECPO they are confident that no one will contact about one of these records, if they do (see example account 633597013078627304) please email the senior mailbox immediately for URGENT assistance.

Kindest regards

Donna / CS Team Leader
