News - February 2023
Please note Waste have requested that any photos that are emailed in by customers are to be sent to wasteteamleaders@moray.gov.uk rather than to Waste Admin. They are not always picked up in time by WasteAdmin and WasteTL will be able to address them more quickly.
Any issues, pass via your Senior in the first instance.
UPDATE 22/02/2023: When sending these emails please ensure you include the address and the Confirm Enquiry number for their reference. Not all members of the Waste team have access to Lagan and so need this information for processing the enquiries - the Lagan reference number is not necessary so please exclude this.
Please be advised Waste have no 23ltr caddies left. The earliest anticipated date that these are likely to be back in stock is April.
Waste are keeping a hold of the tickets for caddies which are still to be delivered so please advise customers of this if they call in to chase them.
Additionally, please advise anyone calling to request a caddy not already requested that it will be at least April before Waste can deliver these.
Residents affected by power disruption caused by Storm Otto are welcome to use council facilities to charge devices, use wifi, shower, and get a heat. Library locations and opening hours can be found here.
Health & Social Care colleagues have contacted those within the community who are vulnerable to offer assistance. If you can, please keep an eye out for any neighbours who may be struggling with the loss of power.
Anyone requiring further assistance or welfare facilities can contact SSEN by phoning 105.

Please be aware that Waste are out of stock of 240ltr brown bins at the moment. They are on order so any requests for 240ltrs brown bins will be delayed in being delivered, no delivery date yet but hopefully they should be here by mid-march.
Alternatively anyone desperately needing one could have a smaller 140ltr brown bin.
Be advised that there are some issues with incorrect online bin calendars, the service have been informed and are currently looking to resolve this.
Due to multiple routes being affected, please carry on raising cases to the service as normal.
Update 12:00: Calendars have been taken offline for now – the routes affected by Xmas/New Year alternate collections have picked up those dates, knocking the calendars off. Will provide an update as soon as we know more.
Update 14/02/2023: The calendars are now back online and correct.
Please be advised you may receive some calls from drivers experiencing difficulty with Pay by Phone, the company are aware of this and dealing with the issue.
Update 09/02/2023: We have been advised services on the app should now be restored.
We are aware of a number of enquiries coming in regarding the Route 56 bin collections.
There had been an error on the bin calendar for last collection date and it was showing as a Tuesday instead of a Monday. The Waste team did put information on the portal regarding this but it seems some householders have thought that this was a permanent change.
If you could apologise to customers for any confusion and advise that the calendars are correct now - but still put the enquiries through to Waste so they can arrange for someone to go back on this occasion. They will only be able to go back for green and recycling as they will be handballed which is not possible for food and garden waste.
PLease note the above road closed at the back of St Sylvester’s School. It is due to a dangerous tree – it belongs to the school so they are contacting a tree surgeon to deal with it.
There are currently no clear timescale estimates for the road reopening.
On Tuesday 14th February we will be closing Waterford Recycling centre for the day to allow maintenance works to be undertaken safely. PR have posted about this on social media and have advised that Moray Waste Busters will be open but will need to limit access for dropping off of items.
