Values Based Leadership- what is it all about?

Moray Council is beginning an important conversation about the values and everyday behaviours that will shape how we work together, lead through change and deliver the best possible services for our communities.

Staff will be at the heart of our Values-Based Leadership programme, supported by Columba 1400, helping to shape a clear set of employee values. Rather than being words written for staff, the values will be developed with staff and translated into practical behaviours that guide how we make decisions, support colleagues, lead teams and respond to change.

From mid October, teams will be invited to discuss three questions:

  • What should it feel like to work at Moray Council?
  • Which values are most important to the way we work?
  • What behaviours would show those values in practice?

We want to hear from colleagues across every service so that the final values and behaviours reflect the experiences and perspectives of our whole workforce.

Managers will arrange team conversations over the next few weeks. Please take part and share your views—every contribution will help shape the final employee values and the behaviours that bring them to life.

The infographic provides more information about the approach and how it will support the transformation of our workplace culture. If you have any questions, please speak to your Service Manager in the first instance or contact a member of the Organisational Development Team.
