Deaf Awareness Week 2026
Deaf Awareness Week runs from 4 to 10 May 2026, and with that in mind, we wanted to remind you about Moray Council’s updated BSL Plan.
It focuses on making day-to-day life in Moray more inclusive for D/deaf people by encouraging better communication, awareness and practical steps that individuals, services and organisations can take to support the local BSL community.
Following consultation with BSL users in Moray, the plan has been shaped around lived experiences. It recognises the diverse needs of the community, including differences in age, language confidence and access to technology.
The plan includes actions to support families, improve access to education and employment, promote cultural inclusion and make public transport more accessible. It also sets out how the council will work with partners to raise awareness of BSL and support training opportunities for staff and the wider community.
