What’s #MotMC and How Can I Get Involved?
April is globally recognised as the Month of the Military Child (MotMC), a time dedicated to celebrating children and young people from military families. Growing up as a child of a serving parent or parents can entail a unique lifestyle, including coping with challenges such as parental absence during deployments, living a transient lifestyle, and the need to be resilient and adaptable to changes. The Month of the Military Child aims to raise awareness and show appreciation to these children and their families.
The Dandelion Project has designed a poster, suggesting ways to participate in the Month of the Military Child and has organised activities for schools to engage with during April. Moray's Month of the Military Child Photo Competition
Entries are open! Moray's Month of the Military Child photo competition is open until April 30th, for more information and how to enter, click here for the link. The theme is ‘My World as an Armed Forces Child’, prizes include gift vouchers and free books!
Bake Sale!
The Dandelion Project has teamed up with SSAFA (Moray branch) to host a bake sale at the Moray Council offices. It is a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness for MotMC and more importantly, to raise funds to support armed forces families in Moray.
The bake sales will be held on the following dates from 10:00:
- Wednesday 24 April 2024: Annexe breakout area
- Thursday 25 April 2024: HQ breakout area
#PurpleUp
Moray has been invited to ‘Purple Up’ for MotMC. You may have already seen that Covesea Lighthouse joined in and turned purple too at the start of the month, see if you spot any other buildings and structures turning purple over this month! You have all been invited to ‘Purple Up’ on Thursday 24 April 2024! A free baked treat is up for grabs for the best purple outfit.
