Moray Empty Homes Service
Moray Council's Empty Homes Service is helping to bring long-term empty properties back into use by offering free advice and support to owners.
The service, delivered in partnership with Aberdeenshire Council and supported by the Scottish Empty Homes Partnership, provides practical guidance on renovating, selling or renting empty homes as well as information on available grants, VAT reductions and other support.
There are currently 1,152 empty properties in Moray, excluding second and holiday homes. Of these, 561 have been empty for more than 12 months and are paying the full Council Tax levy. More than half are in Council Tax Bands A and B, and the highest numbers are in the Elgin and Speyside housing market areas.
Since launching, the service has contacted 623 property owners by email, issued five VAT reduction advice letters and has already helped bring two empty properties back into use.
