Changes to Second Class Royal Mail deliveries

From Monday, 28 July 2025, Royal Mail is introducing changes to its Second Class delivery service, as announced by postal regulator Ofcom.

What’s Changing?

  • Second Class letters will no longer be delivered on Saturdays.
  • Deliveries will now take place on alternate weekdays.

What’s Staying the Same?

  • First Class mail deliveries will continue Monday to Saturday with no changes.

What This Means for You

Second Class mail, which normally takes around 3 working days to arrive, may now take longer due to the reduced delivery schedule. This could impact:

  • Customer and client communications
  • Any time-sensitive mail sent using Second Class

If you regularly send mail on behalf of your team or department, we recommend planning ahead and factoring this change into your timelines.
