Celebrating Shared Lives Week 2025
Shared Lives Week (23-27 June 2025) is a heartwarming annual celebration of Shared Lives care across the UK.
Here at Health & Social Care Moray (HSCM), we’re shining a light on the incredible work of our own Shared Lives carers who work from home offering day support, short breaks, or longer-term care.
Shared Lives is a unique and flexible form of social care where self-employed carers open their homes, hearts, and lives to support adults who struggle to maintain their independence and access opportunities in their community. This could be someone with a learning disability, an older person, or someone with a long-term health condition.
We currently have a network of around 30 Moray Shared Lives carers supporting around 90 people. Our Shared Lives Team guides applicants through the approval process and provides full training, ongoing support, and a thorough matching process to ensure the supported person is a good fit for the carer and their household.
We’ve seen many local authority and health colleagues transition into becoming Shared Lives carers — especially those approaching retirement or looking for a flexible role which fits around part-time hours.
If a role as a Shared Lives carer could be right for you or someone you know, call the team on 01343 563450 (please leave your details on the answer machine) or email: sharedlives@moray.gov.uk
