Step into a healthier future: Walk to School Week 2025

Walk to School Week is back from 19–23 May 2025, encouraging families across the UK to swap the car for their feet and enjoy the journey to school the greener, healthier way.

Organised by Living Streets, the annual campaign promotes the many benefits of walking for young people, their communities, and the environment. This year’s challenge will see pupils take on The Great Space Walk, encouraging them to travel actively to school every day of the week. It’s a chance to inspire healthy habits early, reduce traffic congestion and pollution, and help children arrive at school feeling more alert, confident, and ready to learn.

Here’s why taking part matters:

  • Health boost: walking to school helps children reach the recommended 60 minutes of physical activity a day.
  • Better focus: active travel is proven to support mental well-being and concentration in the classroom.
  • Greener future: fewer car journeys mean lower emissions and cleaner air around schools.
  • Community connection: walking together builds a stronger bond with local neighbourhoods and each other.

Whether you walk all the way, hop off the bus a stop early, or park and stride, every step counts.

Let’s help make the journey to school part of the adventure and a step toward a healthier planet.
