Scottish Apprenticeship Week

Scottish Apprentice Week celebrates the benefits apprenticeships bring to individuals, businesses, and the economy. Scottish Apprenticeship week runs from 4 – 8 March 2024.

Apprenticeships create the skills every generation needs.

They generate:

  • opportunities for people to succeed in life and work
  • skills employers need now and in future
  • growth for Scotland’s economy

Apprenticeships are providing skills to help businesses compete in a changing world.

The theme for Scottish Apprenticeship Week is Skills Generation. This recognises that Scottish Apprenticeships are creating the new generation of Scotland’s skilled workforce.

Here at Moray Council most of our current apprentices are based at the DLO where they are learning vital skills across the trades including plumbing, joinery, painting and as electricians, developing skills that will support ongoing service delivery and supporting our customers maintain a good standard of living.  These positions are essential to the success of the DLO and help assist in providing a workforce for the future. Moray Council have also previously provided training opportunities in administration, ICT roles and Early Years with some of the Modern Apprentices having successfully completed their training have gone on to secure employment with the council.
