Winter Safety Advice

Winter has arrived! Our winter maintenance crews have been out and about spreading their grit and cheer and we wish them a safe winter season on our roads and pavements. Follow our socials @moraycouncil to see the weekly gritting stats!

We've launched our winter comms campaign so you'll be seeing lots of social media content about our scheduled gritting, routes and grit bins as well as advice for travelling in wintry conditions and what to do in an emergency. We're also focussing on encouraging vulnerable people to sign up to the Priority Services Register in case of utility outages and directing residents to the service status portal for updates about disruption to council services. We'd appreciate sharing of these messages when you see them to help keep everyone in Moray as safe as possible this winter.

A message from our Senior Health & Safety Advisor:

All managers / persons in control of premises should ensure a winter maintenance plan has been drawn up for your premises and arrangements put in place to ensure the plan can be acted upon in the event of inclement weather. Typical arrangements may include having a suitable stock of salt available and a means to spread, and a plan of areas to be treated, by whom and when.

Please contact our Safety Advisor if you require assistance.
