Safer Internet Day
Tuesday 7 February is the 20th Safer Internet Day!
Over those 20 years Safer Internet Day (SID) has become a landmark event – from cyberbullying, to social networking, to digital identity SID aims to raise awareness of emerging online issues and concerns for young people.
“Together for a better internet” is this 2023 slogan with the UK Safer Internet Centre organising learning around the theme ‘want to talk about it? Making space for conversations about life online.’ They encourage children and young people to have their voices heard to shape online safety and support they receive.
The ask is that parents, carers, teachers, policymakers and the wider online safety industry take time to listen to children and young people about what issues really matter to them and what online safety changes they would like to see.
It’s never too early or too late to start an online safety conversation and keep it going. Find tips and tools to support the young person in your life’s digital journey here: https://www.internetmatters.org/safer-internet-day/.
