Artificial Intelligence (AI) Cyber Training
We will shortly be launching a new cyber awareness training module for all staff.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming part of everyday life, from online search tools and virtual assistants to workplace productivity applications. While AI offers significant benefits, cyber criminals are also using these technologies to make attacks more convincing, target, and difficult to detect.
This new training module explores how AI is changing the cyber threat landscape and what we can do to recognise and respond to these emerging risks.
What is the training?
This module is made up of short, focused videos, along with a few brief quizzes to reinforce key messages and develop the skills needed to spot and respond to increasingly convincing attacks.
The entire training takes under 20 minutes to complete.
What does the training cover?
The module explores how social engineering is used in everyday attacks, including:
- The Origins of AI – Understanding how AI developed and why it’s become so widely adopted
- AI and Data – why AI systems require large amount of information and how data is used
- AI Spear Phishing – how criminals are using AI to create highly targeted, convincing phishing emails
- AI Deepfakes – how AI-generated content can be manipulated to impersonate trusted individuals
- AI and Modern Phishing Techniques – how AI enables increasingly sophisticated cyber attacks
The focus is on raising awareness and the need for increasing vigilance due to the AI-enabled threat rather than the technical details behind the technology.
Why is this important?
AI is rapidly changing how people communicate, create content, and access information. Unfortunately, it is also making life easier for cyber criminals.
AI can be used to:
- Generate realistic looking phishing emails within seconds
- Create convincing voice impersonations and fake videos
- Personalise phishing emails using publicly available information
- Increase the scale and effectiveness of cyber attacks
These techniques are becoming increasingly common and can make fraudulent communications appear more genuine than ever before.
By understanding how cyber criminals can use AI to craft attacks, colleagues will be better equipped to recognise that they may not be communicating with who they think they are. This awareness will help them identify suspicious activity, question unusual requests, and make safer decisions.
