Procurement Training Modules

The Procurement Team offer Moray Council staff formal procurement and purchasing training in two modules.

Module 1: Introduction to procurement and purchasing

Who is this for? This training is for staff involved in the purchasing of goods and services on behalf of Moray Council (e.g. their school or team).

The training covers the following topics:

  • What procurement is
  • The benefits of following procurement principles
  • How Moray Council buys goods and services – about the purchasing process
  • Useful contacts and available support from the procurement branch

How to access the training? This training will soon be available on Moray Council’s online training platform CLIVE.

Module 2: Training for officers responsible for tendering on behalf of Moray Council

This training is for staff who are responsible for procuring and managing goods and services contracts on behalf of Moray Council.

This training covers the following topics:

  • Developing a procurement strategy and the process for tendering/awarding contracts
  • Overview of roles and responsibilities of the department / lead officer and procurement team staff – how we work together
  • The tender process, preparing and writing tender documents, accessing the Public Contracts Scotland website
  • Evaluation using award criteria, the award process, standstill and records management

How to access the training? This training is delivered on MS Teams by the Procurement Officers. Attendees will need access to Teams, and a functioning web-cam and microphone. Staff are nominated by their manager to attend. Please email procurement@moray.gov.uk to request for a member of staff to be added to the waiting list.
