Career Ready Mentoring - Final Plea

This is a final plea for volunteers to join the Career Ready programme as a mentor and support a young person. We ask that anyone interested in becoming a workplace mentor, contact organisational.development@moray.gov.uk as soon as possible so that we can continue to fulfil our commitment to the next programme which is due to start in October.

Like Career Ready, Moray Council believes that every young person in Moray, regardless of their background deserves the opportunity to develop their skills, knowledge and confidence and the Career Ready programme gives those young people a platform to flourish.

However, this can only be achieved with the support and commitment from our wonderful volunteer mentors.

Becoming a Career Ready mentor is a fun, flexible way to inspire a young person, unlock their true potential, and guide them through the early stages of their career journey. Being a mentor requires monthly contact (about an hour a month) with the young person over the 18-month period and the supervision of a 4-week summer internship.

The programme is having an impact with 100% of the Moray Career Ready school leavers (2020-2022) moving onto a positive destination.

“Career Ready has had a massive impact on my confidence and I will continue to develop this confidence through my next chapter at university. Everyone deserves the chance to experience Career Ready”.

Milnes High School Pupil

And it’s not just the pupils that benefit from their involvement in Career Ready. This is what Sheila Strong – Mail Room Team Leader had to say about her recent experience as a Career Ready Mentor.

“Being new to Career Ready I was a bit apprehensive initially, however I needn’t have worried.  Both the Career Ready Team and the Organisational Development Team have made the whole process seamless and always there with a helping hand if required.  I’d definitely recommend Career Ready Mentorship to anyone who is interested”.

Please do not hesitate to get in contact if you would like to know more about volunteering and, share this message far and wide with your colleagues across the organisation so that we can continue to make a difference to Moray’s young people.
