Cadet Forces
The Ministry of Defence sponsors and supports three voluntary youth organisations in Moray. The Cadet Forces are based on the traditions, values and standards of their parent service, but they are not part of the Armed Forces, they offer challenging and enjoyable activities for young people, and prepare them to play an active part in the community while developing valuable life skills.
The three Cadet Forces in Moray are the Sea Cadets, Army Cadets and Royal Air Force Air Cadets.
Not only do cadets have the opportunity to learn new skills and engage in adventurous activities in disciplined and well-structured organisations, they may also gain nationally recognised qualifications – such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award and City & Guilds Qualifications – based on their achievements that may help them in their future education or career.

A strong onus is placed on cadets positively contributing to local communities by participating in ceremonial events (public and military parades), local fetes, carnivals and charitable activities.
All three organisations are staffed by dedicated Adults Volunteers from various walks of life, many who have had no previous military experience, who help the cadets to achieve their goals. Volunteers also have the opportunity to receive useful training and gain recognised qualifications.
