Communities

Adult and Family Learning - we work with adults to help improve their Essential Skills – Communication, Literacy and Numeracy.  We deliver Family Learning work which allows children and parents/carers to take part in learning together.  We deliver Community Based learning opportunities as well as introductory English for Speakers of Other Languages programmes.

Youth Work – we work with young people to improve and enhance their health and wellbeing.  Our work is targeted and we have a particular focus on transitions from primary to secondary schools and in developing pathways into a positive destination for school leavers.  Outside of the school setting we work with young people on issues that are important to them to help bring about positive change in their own lives and in the wider community.  Young people‘s achievements are celebrated, often through external accreditation such as Youth Achievement Awards or Duke of Edinburgh Awards.

Community Support Unit (CSU) – the CSU use an asset based approach (building on strengths) to harness the knowledge, skills and resources within our communities to progress community locality plans and other place based approaches.  The team delivers on the requirements of the Community Empowerment Act taking a lead role in Community Asset Transfers (CAT); Participatory Budgeting and community access to allotments.  The CSU provide support to both Community Councils and Area Forums. The team are also supporting the development of Community Resilience Plans across Moray and community engagement around the Learning Estate.
