Redeployment - case study

Sandra Philip from accountancy redeployed to become a care scheduler at the start of the covid-19 pandemic. She shares with us her experience and encourages anyone considering redeploying during this current ask to go for it!

"I really enjoyed my redeployment to social care. I was using new systems and working with a friendly, busy team.

"I was part time with social care and was going into the office, so I was able to do some small jobs for my own post while I had access to computers. I also covered, when required, if my job share was on holiday.

"I wanted to help as at the start of pandemic, like so many people, I was at home with no laptop and unable to do anything. I volunteered so I could keep busy. I live alone, am healthy, with no dependants and could drive, so had no worries of travel or infecting anyone at home.

"I didn’t have any hesitation to volunteer as I was glad to be able to help out anywhere I could.

"I would recommend redeployment, the social care team were very friendly and helpful if I had queries. It's also always interesting to see how other services work."
