All you need to know
Moray’s Returning Officer, Mark Palmer, has ultimate responsibility for overseeing the elections here in Moray. We had a last-minute catch up with him before the council elections…
“For the elections staff, including myself, the run up to the election, the day itself and the immediate aftermath is such a hive of activity, that it’s mostly a case of ‘heads down and let’s get on with it’.
“But actually we should take the time to stop and see it for what it is: local democracy in action and a chance for us all to choose candidates who will lead the council for the next five years. It’s an exciting experience to be a part of (although stressful in equal measures!).
“The next time you’ll hear from me will be on Friday 5 May - the day of the eCount. I’ll be at Elgin Town Hall, announcing the various results as they’re confirmed.
“Stay with us throughout the day. We’ll be broadcasting on Facebook live, as well as tweeting live updates and posting on our website. You’ll hear the results from us first.”
