Information Governance Reminder: Email Signatures

05/03/2024

Please do not include images of wet signatures (handwritten signatures) in your email signature or letters.

Images of signatures can be easily copied and reattached to other documents, and, if printed, can be copied by hand by tracing over the signature. This can easily be exploited by identity thieves and online scammers.

If desired, then the name can be written in a different font and/or different size to help differentiate it from the rest of the text.

For further information and advice, please see the Council’s Data Protection Guide and Guidance on Managing Emails available on the Information Governance interchange pages: http://interchange.moray.gov.uk/int_standard/Page_132356.html
