Printing From Home
05/03/2021
Please be aware that staff should not be printing at home
There are numerous reasons why staff should not be printing from their home computers:
- Dedicated laptops and PCs are logging onto the Council’s network, so although those of us Working From Home are toiling from kitchen tables, in sheds and suchlike we are still working within the Council’s ICT network. This means it is not possible to add your personal printer to the network in order to print at home.
- It is not acceptable to email work documents to personal email addresses or transfer them to USB sticks in order to transfer them to your own personal devices (so that you can then print them on your home computer). Information should not be leaving the Council’s robust and secure network.
- Any paperwork that leaves Council premises should be accounted for and is liable to have an impact on Data Protection arrangements, confidentiality and even have repercussions for Fraud.
- Paperwork that does leave Council premises should be recorded so an audit trail of what is currently out and when it is returned is kept.
- Paperwork that contains any personal or sensitive information should be placed in confidential shred-it consoles at the end of its use.
Although there are departments that previously only allowed paper versions of documents to be submitted, rather than finding a workaround to print something, please contact that department and see if arrangements have changed to allow electronic versions to be submitted.
All known or suspected data breaches must be reported to databreach@moray.gov.uk see http://interchange.moray.gov.uk/int_standard/Page_132347.html for more information. Misuse of Council Information is a disciplinary issue.
