Trusted Trader Week

It’s Moray Trusted Trader Week and we want to make sure that all Moray residents can safely choose a local and reliable trader.

What is a Trusted Trader Scheme?
Many local authorities run approved trader schemes. They help residents to find traders they can trust. A trusted trader scheme is basically just a list of local businesses that have been vetted by Trading Standards and who have made a commitment to treat their customers fairly.

What does it mean for Moray residents?
Residents can access a directory of Moray businesses that Trading Standards consider to be operating to a high consumer protection standard.

A phone helpline is also available for consumers who do not use the internet.

Moray Council’s Trading Standards team handles around 50 complaints a year from consumers unhappy with poor quality work carried out on their homes.

The costs are estimated to have be more than half a million pounds in the last three years alone.

So do you have someone in the family in the trades or can you help get the word out?

Moray’s Trusted Trader scheme is here to protect householders from rogue traders. With vetting by Trading Standards, only the most validated and trustworthy traders will get a place on this scheme.

What do membership benefits include?

  • Promotion and visibility: More business should come your way.
  • A business listing in the only official Moray trader directory supported by Police Scotland.
