Volunteering Week - 1-7 June

It's Volunteering Week – the perfect time to say thank you to everyone who goes out of their way to share their time and efforts to help others... like our very own Glenda Collis.

By day, Glenda is a teacher, working as a Depute Head Teacher at West End Primary School – but in her spare time, she is one of 78 Special Constables who volunteers with Police Scotland to help keep the local communities of the North East safe.

A teacher since 1992, Glenda was sworn in as a Special Constable in October 2018, and regularly goes out on patrol alongside regular officers.

Glenda says: "I thoroughly enjoy working as a Special. No two shifts are ever the same and the regulars you work with are so supportive and welcoming. I am able to choose where and when I want to work and I can fit it around my work and personal life. I would highly recommend considering volunteering as a Special."

Not a volunteer yet? No problem! There are lots of ways to get involved in your local area.
