World Day for Safety and Health at Work

28th April 2019 marks World Day for Safety and Health at work with the theme this year being ‘A Safe and Healthy Future of Work’. We have come a long way in terms of health and safety since the International Labour Organisation (ILO) was founded 100 years ago this month, but there is still always more we can do as an organisation and as individuals to keep our working environment safe.

Over the last century the economy has changed drastically, from primarily being based on industry and manufacturing to becoming largely service sector orientated.  Organisations like the Moray Council still have employees doing jobs that expose them to traditional safety hazards, like operating dangerous machinery, but most of the workforce face hazards that seem to be a common feature of modern working life.

Our Health and Safety team are on hand for advice and support on workplace safety and the HR Ops team can offer advice with regards to Health at work in conjunction with the Health and Work Policy available on the interchange.
