Website Update: Go-Live

15/07/2026

Moray Council’s new external website will be going live on Monday, 20th July, marking an important milestone in the Council’s digital transformation programme.

The new website has been created using the new Umbraco content management system (CMS) which replaces the previous Rhythmyx CMS. The change provides a more sustainable, supported and flexible solution for managing website content, while also delivering a better online experience for residents, businesses and visitors.

Benefits of the New Website

The move to Umbraco brings a number of improvements, including:

  • A clearer and more consistent website design
  • Improved accessibility for all users, including those using assistive technologies
  • Better performance and reliability
  • Enhanced compatibility across mobile, tablet and desktop devices
  • A more efficient way for services to maintain and update website content

The project has involved the migration of website content, redesign of key page layouts, extensive testing and quality assurance activities to ensure a smooth transition to the new platform.

Training for Website Content Editors

Staff who are responsible for maintaining service and team webpages will shortly begin training on the new Umbraco content management system.

These training sessions will introduce users to the Umbraco editorial interface, explain how website content is managed within the new platform, and provide guidance on creating and updating pages. The training forms part of the planned transition activities to ensure content editors are confident using the new system and can continue to keep information accurate and up to date.

Training materials and guidance have already been prepared, including recorded training sessions and supporting documentation produced.

What Happens Next?

Over the coming days, content editors will receive further information on:

  • Training schedules
  • User access to Umbraco
  • Content management responsibilities
  • Support arrangements and how to request assistance

The launch of the new website represents a significant investment in improving the Council’s digital services and creating a more modern, accessible and maintainable online presence for Moray.

Thank you to all services, website administrators and project stakeholders who have supported the migration and helped make the transition to Umbraco a success.
