Disclosure Scotland – PVG membership for Moray Council
28/07/2025
The Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme helps ensure people who are unsuitable to work with children and protected adults in Scotland, cannot do regulated roles. It’s a membership scheme with Disclosure Scotland, who continuously check members' criminal history information. It also keeps lists of people barred from regulated roles. Since 1st April 2025, it is now a legal requirement to have Moray Council PVG membership, if you’re going to do a regulated role within Moray Council.
Employee responsibilities
- Ensure you are registered with PVG membership as a Moray Council employee https://www.mygov.scot/pvg-scheme/how-to-apply, before commencing regulated work, with Moray Council.
* Ensure you are registered with the correct group, i.e. adults / children or both, if you are going to start work with a group not listed on your membership.
- Update your Moray Council PVG membership https://www.mygov.scot/manage-pvg with Disclosure Scotland if you have changed any of your personal details, such as your name or address.
- Inform your line manager of any changes in your PVG status, such as if you become barred from working with vulnerable groups.
- Ensure you advise Disclosure Scotland if you no longer work or volunteer for Moray Council in a regulated role https://www.mygov.scot/manage-pvg/leave.
If you have any queries around your membership, please contact your line manager, or HR@moray.gov.uk
