Interpretation and translation services

The current restrictions as a result of COVID 19 means that normal face-to-face interpretations will be disrupted. As an alternative, staff can access telephone interpretation through our provider Language Line Solutions, as per our guidance which can be found at https://secure.moray.gov.uk/interchange/secure/docs/file131533.pdf?637201396286738262.
However, we are aware that there are circumstances in which a relationship of trust has been established between the customer and the interpreter and that it is important to maintain that trust when the customer is asked to discuss personal and sensitive information. We therefore can allow for alternative means of interpretation, such as telephone or online interpretation, to be provided by Global Language Services in Inverness. Costs are £30 per hour with a minimum call out of 30 minutes (£15). There are no travel or other expenses associated with this.
Given the current circumstances we also advise that telephone or online interpretation can be used for long meetings while the COVID 19 restrictions are in place.
