Council Projects - Who Decides?
24/11/2016
Have you ever wondered how we decide which projects to progress within the council and how the process is managed?
This is where our new Gateway Process comes into action under the Project Management Governance Policy (Word). Designed to help manage and deliver projects, it’s based on public/private sector best practice. Each project is categorised as strategic, intermediate or basic – determined by the complexity, investment and impact of each.
For a project to be considered, a project mandate (Word) must be completed and uploaded to the Gateway Drop-Off library. These are reviewed monthly by senior management, who agree which projects to pursue. The Project Management Office helps to administer the process, from receiving project mandates to uploading these to the drop-off library and SharePoint, and further project administration.
All in all, the Gateway Process is in place to make sure the right decisions are made at the right time, by the right people, using the right information.
You can learn more about the Gateway Process and view templates, policies and libraries through the Gateway SharePoint site . For more information about project management, email ProgManOffice@moray.gov.uk.
