National Storytelling Week

Start Date: 28/01/2017

End Date: 04/02/2017

Type ‘storytelling quotes’ into Google (other search engines are available!) and in under a second you’ll  be served up an assortment of inspirational and famous phrases from much-loved stories over the years.

National Storytelling Week 2017 is on now, and while this is a great time to appreciate the magic of the spoken and written word, in Moray there are year-round opportunities to enjoy storytelling.

Our libraries run storytimes weekly or fortnightly, where you can bring the kids along, listen to an array of stories and see their eyes light up as their favourite tales are brought to life. We also offer bookbug sessions for babies and toddlers, and book groups for children and teens.

If you’re after something for yourself, check out the Reading Room which lists book groups across Moray and the types of materials you can borrow from our libraries. See the most popular books borrowed in 2016 and enjoy 24/7 online access to more than 16,000 graphic novels and comics using our new ComicsPlus service.

We are, as a species, addicted to story. Even when the body goes to sleep, the mind stays up all night, telling itself stories.” - Jonathan Gottschall, literary scholar
