Switch Off Fortnight
Start Date: 14/11/2016
End Date: 27/11/2016
As part of a campaign by our electricity supplier EDF Energy, we're taking part in Switch off Fortnight. During the fortnight we are encouraging everyone to do a little extra to save energy:
Switch off PC monitors when away from your desk
Close computers down at the end of the day
Switch off lights if not required
Unplug phone chargers when not being used
Every year we spend over £1.6 million on electricity and a similar amount for gas. It’s a significant cost which we all work to reduce where possible and for the Switch off Fortnight we are challenging everyone to do a wee bit extra.
For the same two weeks in 2015 we have calculated what HQ, HQ Annexe and Ashgrove offices consumed and how much it cost. We will do the same for this year and will report back on the relative performance for each site.
We would also like to thank seven schools in Moray who have individually signed up to participate in Switch off Fortnight, including Applegrove Primary, West End Primary, New Elgin Primary, Craigellachie Primary, Elgin High School, Elgin Academy and Speyside High School.
And remember, wherever you work and whatever you do throughout Moray you can make a difference!
